The MQ Iceplex is designed to support the community’s existing need for ice rink space in Pima County. This premier facility will feature:

  • Two community rinks
  • A 3,000-seat arena rink
  • 15 locker rooms
  • Two party rooms
  • Pro shop
  • Team store

During the 2025-2026 season, MQ Iceplex will host three nationally marketed tournaments. For each season thereafter, MQ Iceplex will host eight tournaments.

Arizona Wildcat Hockey

Wildcat Hockey will call MQ Iceplex its new home. In addition, Arizona Hockey is expanding with three additional teams: ACHA Women’s Division I and Men’s Division II teams will join the existing ACHA Men’s Division I team. True to its leadership position in adaptive sports, Wildcat Hockey will also add a sled hockey program to its roster.

UArizona will also utilize the Arena Rink for student-oriented activities. Under the direction of its Campus Recreation department, MQ Iceplex will be the home of student intramural hockey, broomball, open skates as well as special student events and activities.

MQ Iceplex Tournaments

Hockey

With three ice rinks, MQ Iceplex will be the home of University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey, Junior Roadrunners Hockey Association and the Tucson Adult Hockey League, as well as an array of learn-to-skate and advanced skill clinics and activities. MQ Iceplex will also host nationally marketed youth hockey tournaments, offer summer day-long hockey camps and provide open hockey time to permit players to work on shooting, puck handling and other aspects of their game individually or with friends.

Broomball

Requiring no personal equipment and zero experience, broomball is an exciting, yet affordable, ice-based recreation activity for family, friends, community groups and business outings. MQ Iceplex will offer youth and adult broomball leagues, youth broomball nights and adult pick-up broomball sessions. For more organized group activities, broomball pods, consisting of one-third of a rink set aside for the group, are available weekday afternoons and evenings as well as weekends.

Ice Bumper Cars

Yes, we said ice bumper cars! It’s the ultimate recreational activity – driving on the ice, intentionally bumping into others, and enjoying MQ Iceplex without the need for athletic skill. If you haven’t experienced ice bumper cars elsewhere, you’ll want to try it again and again!

Figure Skating

MQ Iceplex will support new skaters and those seeking greater proficiency by offering a full suite of figure skating lessons and clinics.

Curling

Often thought of as a technical and difficult sport, curling provides a social, competitive activity with no need for experience or personal equipment. Offering leagues and lessons for youth and adults alike, curling will satisfy everyone’s desire for a different indoor experience in a unique setting.

Arena Restaurant

Whether before or after an MQ Iceplex recreational activity, sharing a meal with a view of the Arena Rink is an affair not to be missed. Serving as the club section for Wildcat Hockey, the Restaurant offers an exciting viewpoint of all the skating action.
